Portland, Oregon…the largest city in the state of Oregon. I recently had the privilege to visit Portland last month and wow what a beautiful place. I wanted to share with you some places that are well worth visiting if you ever go. First, we visited Pittock Mansion which is located above the city on a hill. The mansion was apparently built in 1914 for one of Oregon’s most influential families. This mansion is gorgeous and still in wonderful condition. It reminds me of a smaller Hearst Castle almost. The outside is covered with beautiful flowers, trees, birds singing, walking trials, and the best part is you get a view of the whole city of Portland, which is absolutely stunning. After being in awe of the Pittock Mansion, we decided to continue with our journey on to visit the International Rose Test Garden over on SW Kingston Ave. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Roses of all colors and sizes! It is definitely a must see if you ever visit Portland. To learn more about the Rose Garden, please visit their website: http://www.rosegardenstore.org/rose-gardens.cfm
Now, after visiting these two beautiful places we took a stroll along Washington Park where we were able to see another view of the city and spend some time in nature. We also had some fun playing on the teeter totters…yes we are 25 years old, but hey we are still kids at heart. Once we finished playing, we packed up and headed towards the famous Food Carts! We went to the area off of Washington Street and Alder Street. Here is a link to find where food carts might be: http://www.foodcartsportland.com/maps/ We ate at a very delicious grilled cheese truck. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves grilled cheeses!
Another popular place to visit and hike is Multnomah Falls. This place is located right off highway I-84. If you visit their website they have directions written out from multiple locations for your convenience. Multnomah Falls has a restaurant and lounge as well as a gift shop. The most breathtaking sight is when you actually see Multnomah Falls…you can walk a short distance up to the bridge where you can feel the mist from the water falling. You can stand on the bridge as long as you want to take photos, or simply admire the falls and relax. If you continue to hike past the bridge, let me be honest and tell you that it is no easy hike but worth it if you can make it to the top. At the very top you will find a river full of clear, fresh water. You can also walk to the edge and see where it drops off…so pretty! As you can see, these places are absolutely stunning and worth visiting if you ever head towards Portland, Oregon. There are also several other places that I’ve heard of that are worth seeing and I can’t wait until I can go back and continue sightseeing there.
I thank you all for taking the time to read my blog! I feel so blessed to be able to visit places like this and share it with you! 🙂
