Most of you don’t know me personally, but humor is such an important part in my life. Sometimes humor is the only way to cope with the difficult things that are going on.
I wanted to share with you some things that I have learned about humor…
Definition: humor is defined as “a funny or amusing quality, jokes, and funny stories.”
What humor does for your health according to: helpguide.org/…/laughter-is-the-best-medicine.htm
Physical Health Benefits:
- Boosts immunity
- Lowers stress hormones
- Decreases pain
- Relaxes your muscles
- Prevents heart disease
Mental Health Benefits:
- Adds joy and zest to life
- Eases anxiety and fear
- Relieves stress
- Improves mood
- Enhances resillience
- Strengthens relationships
- Attracts others to us
- Enhances teamwork
- Helps defuse conflict
- Promotes group bonding
All of those benefits sound amazing to me, but what if you are just in the most horrible mood? How can you make yourself laugh? Well, I would definitely check out this website, wikihow.com/Laugh-Naturally-on-Cue as they give you 6 ways to laugh naturally. Now, if you actually checked out this cite, if you are anything like me you probably laughed at the photos they chose to depict the situation. Haha. On a serious note, sometimes laughing is hard when you are going through hard times, but there is always something to laugh or smile about. It may take some time to find out what makes you smile, and that’s okay, but the key is to keep trying. If you can find something funny to watch, talk to someone who makes you laugh, or look up funny gifs or memes, you are already on your way to happiness.
I tend to spend a good amount of my time on Pinterest under the humor section. If any of you have been there you know there are some pretty hilarious gifs and memes. I find myself laughing so hard that I start crying!!! It’s the best! Here are some funny pins from Pinterest that I just have to share:
I hope you got a good laugh out of those pins…I thought they were pretty funny! Feel free to share any pins that make you laugh! I’d love to see them.
When it comes to laughing there is also Laughter Yoga. This is not your typical yoga session like you might think…instead it involves a lot of goofy sounds, facial expressions, movements, hugging, high fives, etc, to get you to laugh. I did get to witness a couple laughter yoga sessions awhile back, but was unfortunately too embarrassed to participate. However, even sitting and watching people laugh, smile, and act goofy lifted my spirits. I would highly recommend you either try it or at least watch it. Here is an example from a youtube video that will give you a pretty good idea of what laughter yoga is: youtube.com/watch
I have to say, I feel better just from writing about humor and looking at funny videos and pictures. I hope you do too!
Thank you for checking out this blog and hope you have a great day!
