Things have been pretty hectic for me over the last 2 years or so. I have been so focused on work and trying to be successful that I stopped taking care of myself. I am currently in the process of learning what makes me happy. I am trying to find new hobbies, activities, etc, that bring me joy. I wanted to share with you a couple things that I have decided to try. 🙂
Three things I recently got involved in:
2. Etsy Shop
For the longest time I wanted to start a blog, but never had the time or energy to sit down and write. Another reason I never tried blogging before was that I was nervous about what others would think of my writing or topics. I finally got to the point where I felt I had to just go for it if I was ever going to try it. I am so glad that I did branch out because it’s a wonderful way to express myself and engage with other people. I love reading other people’s blogs and getting to see their style of writing.
The other thing that I just started as of today, was opening an Etsy shop. Right now I currently have three items for sale, and I have to add they look like a three-year-old could’ve done them. haha. However, I am still learning and trying to find my niche for art. While I was working at my previous job we did a lot of art activities and that’s how I started to branch out more. I found that I actually really enjoy painting on canvases. Not necessarily drawing people and painting them, but just doing what I feel in the moment, whatever that looks like. I was really surprised to find how relaxing it is. The other thing that I tried was painting a pot, which was actually an idea Pinterest. There are so many cool ideas on Pinterest, I just can’t say enough good things about it.
Another thing that I recently started was running. My boyfriend is a very competitive runner and I have always been inspired by him. It wasn’t until I saw that there is going to be a 5K Color Run in October near my hometown that I got the urge to run. So, I decided to start running. I downloaded a couple apps, I went on Pinterest (I know shocker), talked to my boyfriend about it, got some actual workout clothes, and then just went for it! It is pretty hard when you first start up, but now my body is getting more used to it. I can’t wait to see what happens as time goes on. All that matters is that I am trying it and enjoying it.
I am in no way under the impression that I am going to make lots of money from Etsy, or really hit it big with this blogging thing, or even be able to run that 5k, but what I am loving is just being able to try these new things. For so long I have been stuck in the same boring routine, so it is so nice to just be able to have the time to think about the things that I actually like, what brings me joy and happiness. I have to be honest and say that it has been pretty hard to narrow down what I enjoy doing, so apparently I’m just trying everything! Haha.
Wondering what new things you have tried lately? 🙂
