C A L I
For those of you who have a dog or cat, you understand the joy they can bring to your life. Getting my dog Cali has been one of the best decisions I have ever made so far in my life. I got her when she was 2 months old and only 4 pounds! How adorable right? When I first got her she was pretty dirty and had hair covering her eyes, but I still thought she was adorable! I remember how excited I was to take her to Petco to get an official name tag for her. At this point it was still surreal that I had my own puppy to take care of. Once we brought her home she was running all over the place, chewing on toys and shoes, and then would just knock out. I tried to get her to sleep in a little box by my bed, but that only worked for half of the night. I was awakened by this pitiful wine and those big puppy eyes looking up at me. How could I not bring her up there with me?! Ever since then she has slept on the bed with me. Haha.
When I got Cali, I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to have a puppy, but I wanted something to love and take care of. I wanted something that would love me unconditionally as well. From the moment I got her she brought so much joy into my life. I was able to potty train her pretty quick, which was first and most important thing! However, the other training fell through the cracks because I got because with college. She is now in training and learning how to interact with other people and dogs, and it is amazing to see her progress. One thing I learned from training was how much my energy can affect her. In some way, taking Cali to training has also helped me try to stay calm and relaxed for her. I have noticed she is walking better, and engaging better. 🙂
I couldn’t imagine life without Cali. She makes me laugh-she barks at her food bowl letting me know it is time to eat, she runs all over the place with a smile on her face when we get home, she throws her ball up to play with herself. She comforts me when I cry-she comes up to me and paws me and sometimes barks to tell me to stop it. Cali also makes sure I am never alone by following me all over my apartment. Sometimes I try to tell her to stay because I’m coming right back, but noooo, she must come. I enjoy it though so it all works out.
Just wanted to share with you a little bit about my Cali dog and how much joy she adds to my life. She is such a blessing, and I thank God for her everyday!
