Today’s blog highlights Compassion International, one of my favorite child ministries. Here is a blurb about from their website explaining who they are: compassion.com
“Compassion International is a child-advocacy ministry that pairs compassionate people with those who are suffering from poverty. The ministry releases children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty. The goal is for each child to become a responsible and fulfilled adult. Compassion’s work has grown from modest beginnings in South Korea in 1952 when American evangelist Rev. Everett Swanson felt compelled to help 35 children orphaned by the Korean conflict. Today it is a worldwide ministry where millions of children are now reaping the benefits of one man’s clear, God-given vision.”
Since May 2015 I have been sponsoring a boy named Ebo through Compassion International. Ebo is a 12 year old boy from Ghana, Africa. He was waiting over 6 months to be sponsored, so when I saw his packet and information I knew he was the one. He is such joy to sponsor. Writing back and forth has been so amazing, and I always love hearing from him. In his second letter to me he said, “You’re the best sponsor ever! I love you!” So heartwarming. What I love about sponsoring Ebo is that it is through a reputable company and only $38 a month. I also love that I get the option to write letters to Ebo via mail and online! I have an app on my phone so that when I am away from my computer, or pen and paper, I can still write to him. You can also attach a couple of photos to your letters so you can share your life with them. I cannot say enough positive things about Compassion International.
I wanted to share this information with you because I did not know about Compassion International until I saw a booth at church. I think it’s a wonderful organization and wanted to put the word out. There are so many children from different countries that need a sponsor. If you visit compassion.com/…onsor_a_child/default.htm you will see a list of children that you can sponsor. You can choose from different countries, ages, genders, etc. There are some children that have been waiting over 6 months for a sponsor, and those will be marked. I highly encourage any of you who can afford at least $38 a month to pray about sponsoring a child. It’s honestly the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced. I’m not just helping Ebo, he’s helping me too. His love for the Lord and his continued prayers for me amazes me.
For those of you who are interested in sponsoring a child, I would encourage you to pray about it and check out Compassion’s website to learn more.
